India votes “NO” to MS-OOXML

India has voted against the MS-OOXML standards. There have been quite a number of meetings taking place at the Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi.

In today’s meeting, held on March 20, 2008, India gave a final decision as “NO” to the MS file document format which MS proposed to be an open standard format. The main crux of the article is:

“Thus ODF (Open Document Format) ….. will continue to be the only “standard” file format as far as India is concerned”.

Here is the link to the article.

In my earlier posts, I have blogged about the six questions and the discussions regarding the standardization.
